ObjectDock is a program that lets you organize your short-cuts and running tasks onto an extremely customizable dock that sits on your desktop. The free version is just called ObjectDock while the paid option is called ObjectDock Plus. I've tried Y'z Dock, MobyDock, and RocketDock and would compare all three to the free version of ObjectDock. They all work, but they are more of a toy than a tool.
If you are willing to put some time in setting it up, ObjectDock Plus offers enough in the way of customizations to allow it to become a better interface to Windows. I spent a while setting mine up and I feel that I'm actually more productive with it now.
You can only bend a tool so much, so when I set out to customize ObjectDock I tried to shape it around the way Windows already works. ObjectDock Plus allows you to have multiple docks, a feature missing from the competition. I setup 4 docks. |
