How do I find the services associated with a specific svchost.exe process?
Saturday, 24 November 2007

Svchost.exe is a generic host process name for services that run from dynamic-link libraries (DLLs) on NT based operating systems such as Windows XP and Windows Vista. Each svchost.exe process session started contains a group of services. Until passed versions of the Windows operating systems, Windows Vista includes a way to identify the specific services associated with each svchost.exe process.

To identify the services associated with a specific svchost.exe process, simply right click the svchost.exe process and select go to services.

This will take you to the Services tab, but it will highlight the associated services for you.

Process Explorer works with Vista and older versions of Windows.
